Yoga for Power & Grace

Experience the beauty to be found with Vinyasa Yoga for Power & Grace. This style involves transitioning from one pose to the next by synchronising the movement with the breath. The breath is the barometer used to assess one’s stress level. By maintaining control of the breath, especially with physical exertion, you will improve your ability to cope with stress in your daily life. Over time and with steady practice of Vinyasa Yoga, you will begin to build strength, flexibility and stamina. This class will appeal to students of all levels, who are in relatively good health. Modifications will be given to make the class accessible to beginners, and more challenging options will be suggested for more advanced practitioners.

Classical Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga was first created to bring harmony to our beings. If we can master our bodies and our minds, then we will be able to delve deeper into our consciousness and spirit. The physical practice of Hatha Yoga is designed to bring balance so that we may live more harmoniously with ourselves and others. Each class will be like a mini workshop with a focus on a specific area of the body, ultimately to improve one’s mastery of Asana (physical postures). There will also be more attention given to Pranayama (breathing techniques), Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), Dharana  (concentration) and Dhyana (meditation). We will take more time to explore each posture more deeply in order to improve technique and knowledge, thus enabling you to create a practice of your own so that you may begin your journey to self-discovery.

Baby-Friendly Lunchtime Yoga

This multi-level vinyasa class is a perfect way to energise you for the remainder of the day. This class will take a gentler approach in order to help you to calm your mind and release the daily stress from your body. The class will begin with a gentle 10-minute warm up, followed by 30 minutes of flowing vinyasa sequences, and close with 10-15 minutes of relaxation. Carers are invited to bring non-mobile babies with them to class in carriers or prams.

The class will begin with a gentle 10-minute warm up, followed by 30 minutes of flowing vinyasa sequences, and close with 10-15 minutes of seated or reclined poses and finally Savasana (lying restfully on your back) or seated meditation. Students on 10-class passes who cannot stay for the full 60 minutes are free to come and go as their work schedule will allow.

Carers are welcome to bring non-mobile babies with them to class. Infants are to be kept in prams and capsules, or held securely in carriers, during the active portion of class, and may be brought onto the floor or held while the practice is seated or supine. Carers may asked to remove the child from the studio, if they are creating excessive noise, especially during the relaxing segment at the end of class.

For Your First Class

If you are registering for the first time, please the First Visit page for details on how to begin.

This article on Yoga Class Etiquette will give you some insight on what to do when you arrive to your first class. I encourage you to check out the Resources Page for videos and more before you attend your first class.

The videos will offer you some advice on how modifications are made in class and more.

Although classes are run during school terms, you may join at any time. The 10-class pass may be used at all classes. Passes can be carried over to the following term and are valid for 3 months (4 months during Christmas break).

Children over the age of 7 are allowed to attend any adult class with their carers as long as they can behave in a mindful and mature manner, bearing in mind that this class is designed for adults, not children.

Payment Options for Adult Classes

Try your first class for only $15. Afterwards individual classes are $20/class or purchase a 10-class pass for $150. If you take up the Yoga Habit Challenge you can also get a pass for $120!

The Yoga Habit Challenge

Why do so many people begin an exercise routine and quit, sometimes after only one session? Because it’s not a habit. How are other people able to commit to a new exercise regime on a weekly, or even daily basis? Because they make it a habit. So how does one form a new habit? Commitment, practice, willpower, and belief. If you are serious about making yoga a part of your lifestyle, then I would like to give you an incentive to get started. I am offering up the Yoga Habit Challenge to anyone seeking to change old habits and start a new one—YOGA. In this challenge, I am asking you to commit to attending 10 classes in 10 weeks in order to send you on your way to becoming a regular yoga practitioner. It is only with a regular yoga practice that one may receive the immense benefits of yoga. If you can commit to attending 10 classes in 10 weeks (excluding holidays), and if you can meet that challenge at the end of 10 weeks, then I will give you your next pass for $120 (one per student, per year). This is not only my way to express my gratitude to you for keeping your commitment to me, but more importantly to reward you for keeping your commitment to yourself. Read more about habits here…

Risks Associated with Yoga

My general classes are best suited to those without pre-existing conditions which may worsen with moderate to high physical exertion. If you have any pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure, glaucoma, joint replacements, spinal injuries, high-risk pregnancy, are heavily pregnant, or recovering from childbirth, you should consult a physician for advice before participating. Although yoga can be beneficial to people with these conditions, cautionary measures must be taken and this should be done on an individual basis. Contact me if you would like for me to design a series of private classes for you, or a consultation to discuss the modifications that will need to be made so that you can ultimately join a group class.
